Choose from the following list according to that which you find believable and best fits your situation. Read, or repeat out loud, the SuprAffs (not the part in parenthesis which sometimes details the science and/or references supporting the affirmation) three (3) times a day (preferably morning, noon and night) until your new habits are firmly established. (The latest studies show the average time for changing habits is around 66 days but everyone is different and you will probably see partial results right away).

For best results try to only change one or two habits at a time using SuprAffs.

                          SuprAffs: Chronic Pain

When feeling pain I LIKE to ask myself "is there a recent stressful event contributing to my pain"?

I LIKE it when I find a way to laugh everyday. (Research shows pain lessens when feeling happy).

I LIKE it when I exercise a little every day. (Studies show the resulting endorphins reduce pain).

I LIKE it when I am able to maintain an appropriate weight. (A recent study shows people who are overweight suffer from higher incidences of pain).

I LIKE it when I routinely use internet search engines and Google Alerts to read the latest research on pain control .

I LIKE it when I search for alternative opinions on the cause of my pain.

I LIKE familiarizing myself with all the journals that specialize in pain research.

I LIKE it when I continually search for information regarding the latest treatments for chronic pain (e.g. the recent concept of "mental defeat").

I LIKE it when I ask myself, am I identifying more with my pain than my pleasure?

I LIKE it when I ask myself, do I get some kind of sense of self, or sense of being right by identifying with this pain?

I LIKE it when I ask myself if the pain is just here to show me something about myself?

I LIKE it when I ask myself, can I accept and even honour the message this pain is giving me?

Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.
-Winston Churchill

I assess the power of a will by how much resistance, pain, torture it endures and knows how to turn to its advantage.
-Friedrich Nietzsche

"The beauty of using auto-suggestion techniques like SuprAffs to change habits lies in their ease of use. You don't have to force or white-knuckle anything. Just be patient and persevere and you will slowly feel like doing things differently".
-Neal Engelking
