     SuprAffs: Obsessive-Compulsive Behavior

I like it when I assign a specific and limited time each day to think about my concerns and avoid these thoughts at all other times.

I like it when I can stop comparing myself to others. (Research shows "guilt" contributes to obsessive-compulsive behavior).

I like it when I can let myself "feel my negative feelings" until they let up, rather than acting on compulsive or obsessive feelings.

I like it when I take time to expand my range of strategies for dealing with obsessive-compulsive behavior.
I lkike to take some time to meditate daily. I know it reduces anxiety and thereby obsessive-compulsive behavior.

I like spending time daily learning about "exposure and ritual" therapies (ERP). (Studies show these are proven methods of reducing OCD symptoms).

I like it when I say "STOP" in mid-thought to interrupt an obsession.  (Studies show it reduces the number of these thoughts per day).

I like spending time daily learning about "associative splitting", a new technique aimed at reducing obsessive thoughts.

I like spending time daily studying and reading everything written on OCD.  (I don't want to overlook any possible source of relief).

"I like it when I work on relaxation techniques such as breathing exercises.  (Research shows that muscle tension increases my anxiety and OCD symptoms).

Choose from the following list according to that which you find believable and best fits your situation. Read or repeat out loud the SuprAffs (not the part in paren-thesis) three (3) times a day (preferably morning, noon and night) until your new habits are firmly established. (The latest studies show the average time for changing habits is around 66 days but everyone is different and you will probably see partial results right away).

For best results (and to prevent becoming overwhelmed) use only a few SuprAffs at a time until your new habits are formed.

I am doomed to an eternity of compulsive work. No set goal achieved satisfies. Success only breeds a new goal. The golden apple devoured has seeds. It is endless.
-Bette Davis

"The beauty of using auto-suggestion techniques like SuprAffs to change habits lies in their ease of use. You don't have to force or white-knuckle anything. Just be patient and persevere and you will slowly feel like doing things differently".
-Neal Engelking
